Dr Ulrich Hanfeld has been Executive Chairman of Pegasus Group Holding GmbH since 2022 and is responsible for the core strategy, M&A and investor relations of the NKD Group. The NKD Group is a leading discounter in Central Europe with over 2,200 shops in five countries and around 9,000 employees. From 2015 to 2021, Dr Hanfeld led a successful restructuring and repositioning programme as Chief Executive before the company was sold by OpCapita LLP in 2019.

With over 25 years of international C-level experience in omnichannel retail, Dr Ulrich Hanfeld is an experienced strategy and turnaround specialist. Before joining NKD, he was CEO of TriStyle Group and managed a European portfolio of 5 omnichannel brands. He was also President and CEO of Otto Group Japan for 10 years and Managing Director of Otto China for 5 years. Dr. Hanfeld is known for his entrepreneurial and results-oriented approach to succeeding in competitive industries, innovative markets and fast-paced environments.

Dr Hanfeld holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration with honours and a Carnegie Bosch Institute Fellowship at Carnegie Mellon University. He earned his doctorate in economics from the University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart. He was a board member of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan and is a member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan. He also actively participates in several CEO roundtables in the German and European omnichannel retail industry.
